10th Apr 2010 - Jinhae 진해 Part 2

Thursday, April 22, 2010 by corrine wan | 1 comments

Continuing from part 1, I headed down to Yeojwa stream (여좌천) next, located just next to Jinhae train station. Many years ago, channel 8 once broadcasted a korean drama called "Romance". I caught a few episodes of the drama here and there and I remembered in this final scene where the lead female and male actor finally reunite again, they met each other at this place on a small bridge where there were lotsa of cherry blossoms in bloom. At that time I was wondering where is this place which was so beautiful and hope to visit it some day too. It was a few years later that I found out this place was Yeojwa stream in Jinhae. Since I'm in Jinhae, I definitely won't want to miss out on visiting this lovely location.

On the way to Yeojwa stream - the cherry blossoms look fluffy

the roads are all lined with cherry blossoms

horse carriage for couples

many people were already gathered at Yeojwa stream and queueing to take photos

I was surprise to see ahjumas possessing DSLR with high end lenses

Presenting to you....Yeojwa stream

many couples were at the stream to take couple photos

this is where MBC filmed the drama and they landmarked it

the wind blew and the petals fell like snow

the flag of Korea known as Taegeuki in korean, flying high among the cherry blossoms

yummy!

After Yeojwa stream, is dinner time! For that I went to a "chinese" restaurant. A "chinese" restaurant in Korea is not really a chinese restaurant. It is call a "chinese" restaurant because it serves food which koreans commonly acknowledge as chinese food such as jajangmyun, tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) etc. So don't assume that if you step into a "chinese" restaurant, the people can speak chinese or have chinese menu. Anyway, this is my dinner - sweet and sour pok rice (tangsuyuk bap)

Tangsuyuk bap - their sweet and sour pork is different from that in Singapore. While S'pore version tends to be more tomato based, the one in Korea is more vinegar based. Nevertheless, it was nice and the portion was large.

After dinner, is time to head off to catch my train back to Seoul.

 Pink magnolias

This concludes the end of my Jinhae trip. Next up is shopping in Korea!
