My hostel is located near to Insadong, a tourist place well known for its arts and cultural stuff.

To get there, take subway to Anguk Station (line 3) and get off at exit 6.

Samjigil (or samzegil 쌈지길)
My lunch at Insadong - 칼국수 (karguksu), handmade noodles in meat broth. It's nice and the noodles are quite chewy. However, Korea food portion for 1 person is quite alot plus the side dishes. It looks small in the picture but the bowl is actually quite big. Being a small eater, I couldn't finish it actually.
With the cherry blossoms (벚꽃, botkkot) in bloom, I decided to head down to Yeouido Yunjungno tunnel in the morning which is famous for the rows of cherry blossoms trees lying along that stretch of road. If you do not know, Yeouido is actually a small island that lies in the middle of Hangang river which runs through Seoul city. Located on this island are many important buildings and finance centres of which the most famous being the National Assembly where all the politicians gather for discussions of country's matters and 63 building which provides a good bird eye view of the city of Seoul at its highest floor.

The National Assembly - take subway to National Assembly station (line 9)

On my way there, I was however disappointed not to see any cherry blossoms in bloom yet. I found out later  that due to the weather in Seoul, the blooming of cherry blossoms in Seoul was delayed. Still I managed to catch some that were about to bloom.

By the way,
some shops have strange names

On the way to Yunjungno,
the cherry blossoms which should be blooming

the forsythias were in bloom though

On my way to Yunjungno, I passed by this building. Can you guess it? It's the largest church in Korea.
No prize for the correct answer. It's the Yeouido full gospel church pastored by psator David Cho Yonggi. The congregation numbered about 100,000 I think.

Mid-day sun. Despite that, it was still chilling.

In the evening, I went down to Seoul Station to collect my KR pass which will allow me to travel for 5 days unlimited on inter-city trains (KTX, Mugunghwa, Saemaeul) that will bring me across the whole of Korea.
Outside Seoul Station

Lotte Mart - located just next to Seoul station

After collecting my ticket, is off to Namdaemun to look at some stuff ^_^ I will talk about the shopping in Seoul in a separate post. Next day, is down to Gwangju....
